Wellers Hill State School has an engaging, academically rigorous and inclusive curriculum based on the Australian Curriculum and the Queensland Studies Authority Essential Learning. Curriculum delivery is planned around a number of key learning areas including:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Technology
  • The arts including:
    • Music
    • Dance
    • Drama
    • Visual arts 
    • Media
  • Health and physical education
  • Languages other than English - Japanese

Overall, the curriculum program caters to a diverse range of students and focuses on a number of core general capabilities. These include literacy, numeracy, the use of Information and Communication Technologies, problem solving and creative and critical thinking. 

Across the curriculum there is a focus on the priorities relevant to contemporary students including Australia’s engagement with Asia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and sustainability. These priorities are supported by the general classroom curriculum, special programs and events and the enrichment programs operating throughout the school.
