Welcome to Prep at Wellers Hill State School
Prep is an exciting time for you and your child. Prep is the first year of schooling and is a fulltime compulsory program, from Monday to Friday from 8:40am to 2:50pm.
The early years of learning are among the most significant periods of growth for children. Experiences during this time not only affect cognitive, social and physical development, but also deeply influence dispositions to learning and children’s views of themselves as learners.
At Wellers Hill State School the Prep program is designed to cater for each child’s interests and needs and to foster a love of learning.
Parents who live within our catchment area can enrol their Prep child from the beginning of Week 2 Term 1 for the following year.
Wellers Hill State School is enrolment managed and priority placement is given to studetns who live wihtin the catchment area or are siblings of students currently enrolled.
Families who are not within catchment are can enrol their Prep child from the beginning of Term 2 for the following year.

All families who enrol their child/ren at Wellers Hill are asked to attend all the Prep Transition Days. Transition days are a wonderful opportunity for prospective students to experience what learning at Wellers Hill State School is like. A number of transition sessions are offered in Term 3 and 4 prior to the child commencing their first year in Prep. Parents, caregivers and students are expected to attend all sessions. Dates for these sessions will be advertised to parents throughout the year.
