Student Leadership

At Wellers Hill State School we provide many opportunities for our students to participate in leadership positions.  These positions are held in high esteem by the Principal, staff, their fellow students, parents carers and the general community. Leadership positions available are: 

  • School Captain (4 positions) 
  • House Captain (8 positions - 2 per house) 
  • Band Captain (2 positions) 
  • Strings Captain (2 positions) 
  • Choir Captain
  • Sustainbility Captain
  • Technologies Captain​

Student Leadership at Wellers Hill State School is based on the following beliefs: 

  • ​To provide an active and supportive role in student management 
  • To provide a role model for all students
  • To represent the school in exemplary fashion on required occasions
  • To assist other students to be the best they can
  • To actively promote your area of responsibility throughout the school.

School Captain Responsibilities

  • ​Promote and uphold the values of the school, its students and all staff members
  • Set a high standard of behaviour at all times by following all school rules
  • Foster a cooperative attitude among students by actively involving all students in school activities
  • Represent the student body at official school functions –ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, Sports Days, Graduation and other school functions
  • Set up for and take part in assemblies when called upon to do so
  • Welcome visitors to the school and act as hosts on such occasions
  • Represent the school in and beyond the local community

Student Leader Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the values of the school, its students and all staff members
  • Set a high standard of behaviour at all times by following all school rules
  • Participate fully in the learning programme in the school 
  • Act as a mentor to younger students 
  • To actively promote your area of responsibility throughout the school
